Tuesday, September 26, 2023—The staff of Colloredo & Associates made the nice and easy trip up Highway 33/66 to visit the welcoming town of Cumberland Gap, Tennessee. This beautiful, well-kept secret is home to restaurants, arts, walking trails, ghost tours (uh-huh!) and horse trails. Cumberland Gap National Historical Park is right next to town. Plus, the town sits at the Virginia border where 300,000 early settlers crossed the Appalachian Mountains to settle all over America. Hence the name, “the Gateway to the West.”

Colloredo was recently awarded a contract in association with Guardians of the Gap and Tennessee Downtowns, a part of Tennessee Main Street, designed to help revitalize the state’s downtown areas. Cumberland Gap is ripe to be represented as a place visit, relax, and experience the beauty of Tennessee, Virginia and Kentucky. All within a stone’s throw of major metropolitan areas, such as, Knoxville, Tri-Cities and Nashville, Tennessee. Middlesboro, Lexington and most of Eastern Kentucky are in close proximity.

The first steps of the marketing program involve a newly created branding scheme, a robust website aimed at becoming visible in the tourist and economic development world and a print rack-style publication to help visitors navigate the area.

The day-long visit included a walking tour of downtown, an outside lunch at the Gap Creek Coffee House and a wildly interesting get-to-know our new client informational meeting. The Knoxville-based advertising agency toured the Olde Mill Bed and Breakfast where the business meeting was held. There are some secrets there that are wildly interesting and fun stories of this incredibly beautiful place to stay right in the heard of downtown.

Special thanks to Kimberly, Tony, Kathy, Jerry and Mayor Neal Pucciarelli for your hospitality and especially to Kimberley’s mama for serving us warmed blueberry scones and coffee. Worth the stay at the Inn for that alone!

Our next steps are website map to uncover the immense amenities, history, resident information and other aspects of the town in one place online at https://cumberlandgaptn.com.

Rough concepts for logo and branding platform as well as a sketch of the town map are highlights of the next steps. We’ll also get down and shoot photography in this majestic place we’d all love to call home some day.

Update on Three Deliverables:

1. Website Development: Site Map Underway! Rough draft complete. Colloredo team reviewing and will present to GOTG week of October 16.

2. Brochure with Map: Rough Draft of copy, maybe a little of a sketch and layout by end of October!

If you ever get the chance to take a day trip or an overnight stay or even several days, make that get away at Cumberland Gap. I know we will all be coming back frequently. And if you see one of your friends from Colloredo & Associates, just tell ’em “uh, huh.” They’ll know.

Bob Colloredo has been working for advertising agencies since the 1980s. In 2006, he took a leap of faith and started his own shop, Colloredo & Associates, Inc.

He hasn’t looked back.

Colloredo & Associates has grown from a one-man business to a full-service, integrated marketing and advertising agency with 10 professional staff members, including both industry veterans and talented young stars. The company serves clients from Florida to New York City to the West Coast from its home office in Knoxville. And the shop is definitely on a growth path, more than doubling in size in the last four years.
